ABOUT CDC :

CDC, the Child Development Center, established in the year 2001 is a referral, assessment and treatment Center which provides specialists advice and help for children who are at risk of / are experiencing neuro-developmental disabilities.

The facility is one of its kind which has been envisioned and designed as a one stop center to provide aid and support for neurodevelopmental disabilities like Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Autism Spectrum disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Specific learning disorders, Hearing impairment, Vision impairment, Neuromuscular disorders etc, as well as Behavioral and other Psychological problems.

In the midst of its vast expansion, the Child Development Center has acquired Professional Experts of Developmental Pediatrics, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Special Education and Psychiatric social work.

At present, the CDC caters to around 1000 new patients on an annual basis and around 18000 patients are accommodated for follow-up and therapy sessions.

MISSION :

  1. Keeping track of ongoing developmental process of children reporting to Pediatric departmentincluding high risk newborns).
  2. Assessment of Children with Neuro- Developmental Problems.
  3. Identifying the areas of deficits, delay or deviation.
  4. Providing multidisciplinary management.
  5. Training of Professionals.
  6. Research.
  7. Establishment of links with other related Organizations.


The CDC also provides training to undergraduate medical students, post-graduate students of Pediatrics, MPhil students of Psychology, and Occupational and Speech Therapy Trainees from various renowned institutes.

The Child Development Center, Department of Pediatrics, Maulana Azad Medical College has organised various National and International Conferences / Workshops and Training Courses for Students and doctors.
