Facilities :
The Department has four undergraduate laboratories to accommodate 250 students. 3 demonstration rooms and 2 seminar rooms. For training of post graduates and research activities, the department has the following laboratories;
- Postgraduate Laboratory
- Therapeutic drug monitoring
- Pharmacogenomics lab
- Pharmacovigilance center
- HPLC lab
Pharmacovigilance center :
The Department has been recognised as an Adverse Drug Reaction monitoring center for the National Pharmacovigilance Programme of Government of India in association with Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad, The aim of this programme is to create awareness about adverse drug reactions amongst health professionals and increase reporting about the same. The residents are actively involved in collecting ADRs from different wards of Lok Nayak Hospital.The ADRs reported and collected are screened before uploading in software provided by IPC. This information is being forwarded to the National Coordination Centre Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (NCC-PvPl), Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad. Till date (31.12.2017), a total of 944 ADR reports have been uploaded.

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Lab :
The Department has a laboratory for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, Blood samples are received from patients and are processed to estimate drug concentrations. This information helps Clinicians in decision making with regard to doses and compliance behavior of patients.
Museum :
The Department maintains a Museum as per Medical Council of India's requirement. Information, framed pictures and charts of famous scientists,branches of Pharmacology,landmarks in Pharmacology, timelines in history of drug development, noble prize winners, phases of clinical trials, sources of drugs, drug formulations, how to administer drugs by different routes, drugs acting on cardiovascular system, experimental pharmacology and specimens of drugs and indigenous plants are displayed in the museum for the benefit of students.
Patient Care Services :
The Department has been providing patient care services in the following areas.
- Quantitative and qualitative estimation of drug levels In Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Laboratory, measurement of drug levels of antimaniac , antiepileptic, antitubercular drugs and qualitative estimation of corticosteroids in medicines is done.
- Drug Information center Provide information related to medicines to health care providers and consumers.
- Monitoring of Adverse Drug reactions The Department has been recognised as an Adverse Drug Reaction(ADR) monitoring center under the National Pharmacovigilance Programme, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India since 2014. ADRs of patients are monitored, recorded and reported to the National Pharmacovigilance center for evaluation and forward transmission to the International ADR monitoring centre in Uppsala (sweden). A database of the ADRs being collected is being maintained to provide feedback to the health care providers in the hospital.
Community Health :
The faculty from the Department has been contributing as experts and consultants in Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at National and State level in issues related to effective and safe use of medicines The faculty from the Department has been actively involved in activities related to promotion of Rational use of medicines in Delhi. These activities include preparation of the list of essential medicines for public health facilities under Delhi Government, expert in procurement of low cost, quality essential medicines for the public health facilities in Delhi, sensitizing doctors to rational prescribing, initiating the making of Drugs & Therapeutic Committees in all Delhi Government hospitals and improving use of Antimicrobials. Some activities include:
- Formulation and implementation of Drug policy of Government NCT of Delhi.
- Selection and formulation of the list of Essential medicines at both Delhi state and National level.
- Procurement of essential medicines for public health facilities under Government NCT of Delhi.
- Preparation of standard operating procedures for Pharmacy management, Drug use and procurement in Delhi government hospitals. v) National Antimicrobial Policy formulation.
- Ational vector borne disease control programme.
- Pesticide and toxicology regulatory issues.
- Sports medicine and doping related issues.
- Promotion of rational use of medicines.
- Monitoring of adverse drug reactions.
