The Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU) at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) represents a significant stride towards enhancing health research capabilities. Established with the support of the Department of Health Research (DHR), Government of India, the MRU is a testament to MAMC’s commitment to fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation in Medical Research.
The MRU’s establishment was made possible through a grant-in-aid from the DHR and an MOU with the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, ensuring its maintenance even after the grant period. It serves as a hub for the MAMC community, such as Lok Nayak Hospital, GIPMER, GNEC, MAIDS, and other Institutions, promoting research that can lead to improved health outcomes.

Our Mission
Commitment to Research Excellence in Medical Science.
Our mission is to foster a robust environment of research within medical colleges, recognizing the vital role that scientific inquiry and innovation play in advancing medical science, health education and services. MAMC is dedicated to bridging the infrastructure gap that hinders health research. DHR and GNCTD helped by supporting the establishment of multidisciplinary research facilities. This initiative is not just about enhancing research capabilities; it’s about ensuring that these improvements lead to tangible benefits in health research and services. Training to improve the research skills of students and junior faculty members are organized.
We are equally committed to ensuring that the benefits of research infrastructure reach every corner of our nation, particularly targeting un-served and under-served medical colleges and institutions. By doing so, we aim to democratize access to high-quality health research facilities.
Ultimately, our goal is to improve the overall health status of the population. We believe this can be achieved by fostering the evidence-based application of diagnostic procedures, processes, and methods. Through this approach, we strive to translate research into practice, ensuring that our advancements in medical research directly contribute to better health outcomes for all.
